Elena Dudina
I was born in Russia and my father was a military man and a fighter pilot. So, as you might understand, we moved a lot. I spent my childhood and youth from one location to another. From Estonia to Latvia, even from the Arctic to Ukraine and seven years in Siberia.
Living in Madrid (Spain) since 2002. My husband is Spanish and I love this country too.
I have always drawn and painted, since child. I had that gift. In 2004 I started with sculpture too until I dicovered Photoshop.
Since then I work exclusively in this field. I think is the summary of everything I did before.
Photomanipulation is my passion but my work too !
I have always created. I have drawn and painted since I was a very young child. I had that gift. When I was about 10 years old, I had drawn a horse scene, covering the fence of my grandmother’s house. People loved it. I started to study fine arts when I was 16. My mother became seriously ill, and I had to leave to take care of her. With the new century, I began sculpting too. Finally, nine years ago, I discovered Photo-Manipulation. Since then, I am exclusively dedicated to this field. I feel it is the summary of all the things I had done before.
Beginings
I started with Photoshop Elements 5 and 6. Expending many hours each day practicing with Tutorials. Test / error. I’m very stubborn, perfectionist and demanding myself. No hurry. When I tought I knew the program (innocent I) I went to my first photomanipulation course. Then two more for a total of about 200 hours. Most I know I learned there. I ́m thankful.
Inspiration
Dali, Antonio Gaudí, Hieronymus Bosch, Stephen King, mistery novels, Game of Thrones, horror movies…
Working process
Most of times is a wonderful shot of a wonderful Model. She ́s asking me to tell her story, to bring her to live.
Sometimes I have the idea in my head. It ́s harder. I have to find the appropiate Stocks. Assemble the puzzle to get what I imagined.
When first case the process is easier. I work on the model as my heroine. I try to make her beautiful, give him a personality, perhaps that suggests a story. The background it ́s a complement.
When I start of a previous idea I have is more complicated. More devoted. Usually involves hours of searching for appropriate stock. Keep trying and trying until that looks like what I imagined. Until I have it and start to tweak, make up, paint the hair and clothes so I do not start to enjoy.
Tools
Photoshop CS3 and Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet.
Experiencia
I worked for 3 year with Bally Technologies, Inc., developing image for Slot Gaming Machines. I combined with my work as freelancer.
