So, I thought I’d post this because many authors are great writers, but unfortunately great stories must have a lot more to get them going as the marketing of stories is where a lot of the real work of getting your book into the hands of readers is what makes stories marketable. Learning the basics of web development is necessary I believe to make your new book stand out because it gives you that much more exposure, but on the downside creating a website if your not savy with web development is and can be a monumental task. I am not saying don’t use something like Wix or WordPress, but if you learn about some of the technologies you will be that much better off when dealing with a web developer.
Can you have a great site using wordpress? Of course you can, and you can even hire someone to create a wordpress site.
(WordPress is what they call a content management system or CMS, which makes developing basic websites much easier. So without knowing multiple front end web development languages like HTML, CSS, and Javascript you can just create basic sites using WordPress which don’t require much if any coding knowledge.)
I thought I would post this video to help those of you who don’t really understand front end and back end web development, the languages involved, and hopefully this will help you understand things a bit better so your better equipped when it comes to dealing with developers. Remember, having a web page, a great webpage will give you somewhat of an edge over other books if you can get one up and running.
The video is not long, but highly recommended if you know nothing of web development. Don’t get scared if this is all jumbo…..hopefully you get the gist of what technologies go into webpages.
