This past year we had some great movies coming out. Some were a pleasant surprise while others were a huge disappointment? Some movies that we were expecting to flop did amazingly. But with the start of the New Year we come closer to finally see some highly anticipate movies that we were waiting for quite some time. So without further delays here are some of the movies that are coming out in 2019.
#8: Glass

From M. Night Shamalan comes the third film in his “superhero” extended universe. If you have seen “Unbreakable” and “Split”, and you loved those movies, you should really look forward for this. And it is coming out this month. I just really hope that M. Night won’t screw this up. The pressure is high on him and this movie, but I hope that he makes us proud.

#7: Hellboy

Full disclosure, I haven’t read the “Helboy” comics. The only thing that I know about this franchise is what they show in the Del Toro movies. Movies that I really love to this day. From the trailer that came out a couple of weeks ago it sure looked different. It wasn’t really for my taste but I have been wrong before, so who knows, I might be wrong about this also. With the creator of the “Hellboy” comics personally involved in the story for this movie, we should be hopeful that this will be a fun movie at least. Only time will tell.

#6: Aladdin

This will be the newest live action movie from Disney. I got to be honest; I am really excited for this. We only got to see some pictures from the set and a small teaser trailer. But from all the animated films that Disney has in their arsenal, this is one of the easiest to adapt for a live action. And I really like the cast as well. There was a lot of controversy around casting Will Smith as the Genie, but after Robin Williams, who sadly isn’t with us anymore, he seems like the obvious choice. Let’s hope that soon at least we will see a full trailer for the movie.

#5: The Joker

The clown prince of crime himself, or we hope so. From Todd Philips this may we can expect the origin story of the Joker. There is a lot of mistery and fan theories surrounding this movie. Some say that is a different Joker than the one we know from the comics and movies. They describe it as a “Proto” Joker, the inspiration for the Joker to come. Either way we have to wait and see. All I know is that the director has made some awesome movies in the past and Joaquin Phoenix is one of the greatest actors working today.

#4: It: Chapter Two

This year’s “It” was an excellent movie. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I am not a fan of horror movies, but I like Stephen King’s work and I got to say that “It” is the best adaptation from his work to date. I wouldn’t change a thing from this movie. When the announced the cast for the second part, I was ecstatic. Especially for Bill Hader. The dude is a legend. I can’t wait to once again visit the world that King created and to see Pennywise one more time.

#3: MIB: International

I forgot about this movie to be honest. I once saw a video on Youtube that they were making a spinoff from the original movies, and that It would star Chris Hemsworth, but it went right through me. That was, until I saw the first trailer for this movie. It looks amazing. From the story to the design of the weapons and some of the gadgets. And I am glad that they made it a spin off, and not a reboot. But unfortunately if you are a big MIB fan we have to wait until the summer to get your fix.

#2: Shazam!

The number 1 and 2 choices are interchangeable for me. I am a huge “Shazam” fan. It is such a cool concept. A kid gets the powers of the gods. Imagine a mix between “Big” and “Superman” and you get Shazam. And Zachary Levi is the perfect actor for this job. He is able to portray a kid who is stuck in an adults body. And judging from the trailers, this movie seems that it would depart from the previous DC movies and has a lot more humor and jokes in it, which is a nice adition.

#1: Avengers: Endgame

We are in the endgame now. This movie was 11 years in the making. All the other movies lead to this. For the first time ever I don’t want them to publish any more trailers or promos for this movie. We should go in this movie not knowing. Thanos did his thing. The snap happened. I wonder where they will go with it. This might be the last time we see Iron Man and Captain America, seeing how both actor’s contracts are over after this movie.

All I can say is, this movie cannot come any sooner.
Those were some of my most anticipated movies for 2019. You might have noticed that I didn’t include Star Wars 9 on this list. After The last Jedi and Han Solo I was very disappointed in the direction that Disney was taking “The Star Wars” franchise. I might see in the cinema but I am not looking forward to it. But that is a rant for another day. Hope you agree with me on some of the choices that I make.
I wish you all happy new year and a lot of success in 2019.

Dimitar
My name is Dimitar. I am 21 and I currently study Nanotechnology and I am in my second year in college. Ever since I was little I loved reading comics and watching movies, especially superhero movies and fantasy. I first discovered my love for geek culture when I watched the 90’s animated Spiderman cartoon. I remember my cousin had all the seasons on VHS and I would watch them over and over again. I also enjoy playing video games as well as watching TV shows. I’m a huge fitness fan as well and I think I got that obsession from watching all those super humans running and jumping around. My hope is that with these articles that I am writing I can share some of my love for these things to you.
