I am really looking forward to the new Game of Thrones and there are undoubtedly many predictions offered by other blogs and articles but I wanted to share a few of my predictions for season 8.
My prediction is that Deanarys will eventually sit on the Iron Throne, but it will cost the life of some very loved characters. So, I’m thinking that Jon Snow will die to save Deanarys, and a cliche way to end it all would be for him to do it in a heroic fashion, however, there are some issues with this ending.
First is that it is very predictable, and one thing I must applaud Game of Thrones for is its lack of predictability. I think that is why many people love the franchise is because it subverts many expectations about what is expected for the plot and characters, but still in keeping with an engaging storyline and character development.
Second it is very likely that Deanarys would also be a very predictable ending to sit on the Iron Throne, and and unscientific opinion is that she is the 2nd most popular character, so in some ways that would be a very predictable choice as well.
There are other possibilites such as Tyrion or one of the Greyjoys.
How about The Mountain sitting on the Iron Throne?
Another possibility for me would, and a good candidate would be Brienne of Tarth.
I have had a theory in the back of my mind for a while that she is a secret Targaryan and therefore would be a great candidate for the throne.
My official prediction for what will/can happen:
Brienne of Tarth ends up on the Iron Throne, but not before we see the death of both Deanarys and Jon Snow. She will have to fight and defeat The Mountain to do so, and then through some plot twists will learn that she is the rightful heir to the throne.
Esquire ran an article about how they think that Sansa Stark will win the Iron Throne, but I disagree. Reason being is that I am smarter than everyone there at Esquire, but also because that also sounds too predictable to have Sansa win the throne. My picks are much better than Esquire.
