Author Bio
Feel free to share a little about yourself in your own words.
How did you get into writing?
It was just something that happened. Didn’t grow up with the desire to write or anything like that. Just happened.
What can you tell us about your daily routines that help you focus and your creative habits? So, for example how do you come up with some of your ideas and inspiration for your book?
D&D. This whole idea for the book, the characters, all created during D&D. Me and my friends came up with our own modified D&D campaign. Outside of that, I am an avid fan of cartoons and anime. I love watching shows such as DBZ, Naruto and Young Justice. I analyzed the stories and the characters and try to figure out how to our characters able to connect to our readers in a similar manner. We wanted the readers to develop a personal connection to our characters and their journeys.
Is this book very personal for you? If so, how?
It is very personal to me because of the amount of time, effort and desire that was put into it. This project took almost 10 years to develop because of the ups and downs of life. There were times when motivation was really low and I felt like quitting. But, once you devote yourself to an idea and buy into it fully, I mean deep to your core, quitting is never an option.
Klan Lore Vol. 1: Wolfs Howl
How did you come up with the book title?
We had a different name for the book, but we found out that the name was already being used by another book series. The current name was created based on the groups that are in the book.
Plot and Synopsis
Can you describe what the book plot and give a detailed synopsis of the book, of course without any spoilers?
The book revolves around 4 young fighters who each come to Greystone City for their own personal reasons. Unexpectedly, they come together as a team and thru their growth as a team, they overcome the obstacles that are thrown in front of them. Each fighter has their own issues that impact them and affect the team.
Is there any movie, book, or television series that you can somewhat liken your story to? So for example, some books you can say are like Game of Thrones or Star Wars, what mainstream and popular movie do you think your book somewhat “feels” like? Did you want this to be the case?
The book is a combination of DBZ, Naruto and Young Justice. A nice mix of all three in my opinion.
Themes or Messages
What themes and deeper meanings or messages can we expect to find in this book if any? Is there any deep meanings or philosophical questions being explored in the book?
The main theme we try to focus on is friendship and family. How having people who are there for you to watch your back and help you in your time of need will enable you to overcome anything.
Off the wall question, but would some of the issues being explored in the book relate to us here in the real world?
Absolutely. In real life, everybody goes thru personal issues and struggles. We all need someone at some point and time in our lives, to help us get thru the bad times and become stronger.
Setting
What can you tell us about the setting that we will be seeing in this book?
The book has a modern day setting with the way characters live and technology being used.
What cultures or societies can we expect to see and can you tell us about how you came up with creating these societies? Was it difficult to get deep into how the societies function?
Every person in this world belongs to a clan and each clan has their own values and philosophies. The leaders of each clan work together to keep this world moving. We never wanted to add a specific race or a specific culture into this world that could turn some readers on or off. We felt that by introducing multiple groups into the book, it would give a more balanced cultural view for the readers than adding specific races or nationalities. Thru the series, we want to give more detail on the clans to the readers so they can choose with clan or clans, they like the most and want to follow.
Tell us about the history of the land or world or worlds that we will be exploring through out the book?
There are 9 groups in the book and after a prior war amongst themselves, the leaders decided to put their differences aside and work together to create the current world. Each group has their own “central home” throughout the world, but clan members interact with each other all over the place. The book mainly takes place in Greystone City, which is a central hub for all clan members. Think if it as our own NYC.
Characters
What can you tell us about some of the main characters and villains in this book?
Prowl and Darkmane are the first 2 main characters that readers will be introduced too. Prowl is from the wolf clan and out of the 4 main characters, he had the deepest personal reason for coming to Greystone City. Darkmane is from the lion clan and he just seeking new challenges and obstacles to help him grow.
While the book doesn’t focus on him, just by his name you know he is a main player in the story. Kaydrin Darkspire of the dragon clan. He has his own agenda that parts are touched on in the book.
