So, according to a Vox article, the new Avengers movie “Endgame” has surpassed many box office records. Specifically I don’t know which ones, the article doesn’t mention which ones it surpassed but I can only assume there are multiple metrics to measure the success of a movie. The big question I have after seeing this is where do they go from here? Such a successful franchise is surely to create just as many problems as it solves. The writers had a massive job, close all stories, find closure to multiple characters, but don’t mess too much with other character story arcs, do this…do that….must be a massive job and undertaking to do such a story.
So, another question I want to raise is will it surpass the Star Wars universe? Star Wars has always been pretty much the biggest moneymaker as far as movies go, with multiple Star Wars films being among the biggest hits of all time.
Will Marvel surpass Star Wars as Disney’s biggest moneymaker? I feel if they played it right, it could possibly be. Star Wars has been in trouble these past few years, particularly with the division of the Last Jedi in dividing fans. My observation comes from reading the comments on the official Star Wars Facebook page, especially after Star Wars was released there was a lot of backlash, the Facebook page couldn’t post anything without massive backlash about the Last Jedi. The issues with the film are a whole different issue entirely though, which I will not get into this article.
What do you all think? Do you think the Marvel Universe will surpass Star Wars at some point? Thoughts?
